- Uptime: They need to improve their uptime.
- Upgrades: Upgrading to a high-priced plan will garner you no extra charge to migrate your account. And, if you decide to change data centers while migrating the account, your data center migration fee will be waived as well. However, changing to another data center without an upgrade will cost you $25 in fees.
- Downgrades: If downgrading to a lower-priced hosting plan, you may be subject to a $25 downgrade charge.
- On-demand backups paid separately: If you want to use their on-demand backup system to create your own backups, you’ll need to purchase their add-on.
- Confusing checkout: Even if they’re not as pushy as other providers, their check out is loaded with add-ons that you most likely won’t need (e.g. paid SSL certificate).
- 35 concurrent HTTP connections: All shared hosting plans seem to be limited to 35 concurrent HTTP connections to the server – this may not be enough.

- Renewal Price Increases: Like most hosting companies you’ll experience a price jump when it comes time to renew. Most hosting companies offer very low introductory rates to secure you as a customer, only to experience the “actual” rates when it comes time to renew.
Unlimited Hosting Is Limited: Another common hosting practice is selling unlimited hosting when in reality it’s actually quite limited. By “unlimited” hosting Bluehost means that they’ll do their best to provide all of those on unlimited hosting plans with the necessary resources to grow their sites, without experiencing a jump in pricing.
